John R. Withbroe

John R. Withbroe Jr., age 79, passed away Tuesday February 28, 2023, at Alpha Senior Concepts in Green Bay.  He was born July 27, 1943, to the late John Sr. and Mary (Deau) Withbroe in Green Bay, WI.  He attended Premontre High School. He then enlisted in the Army and served our country from 1960 to 1964.  He married Sandra Bond in 1993 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Green Bay.  John worked as a City Bus Driver until his retirement in 2004.  He served as Transit Union President for most of his career.

John enjoyed spending time with his wife Sandy. He was a frequent visitor to many local establishments (Pancake Place, The Rite Place and Cranky Pat’s). He was proud of his son’s and daughter’s accomplishments and the families they created.  He enjoyed golf (especially with his son Greg), tennis, walking (while listening to the Bee Gee’s), bowling and the Packers.

Survivors include his wife:  Sandy; one son: Greg (Melissa) Withbroe, Ct; one daughter: Cathy (Richard) Mortlock, Green Bay; four grandchildren: David Mortlock, Josie Withbroe, Grayson Mortlock and Easton Mortlock; one great granddaughter: Alianna Mortlock; one brother:  Don (Denise) Lewis, Green Bay; three sisters: Peggy Stofferan, Mary Greene, and Nancy (Mike) Diring, all of green bay. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friend survive.

John was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Withbroe; sister: Ruth Withbroe; Brothers-in-law: Frank Stoffaren and Jim Greene.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023, at 12:00pm at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay. Visitation will occur from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
