John “Jack” Alfred Kasel, 88, of Green Bay passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022. He was born on April 30, 1934 in Barron, WI to the late Mathias and Rosemary (Wagner) Kasel.
Jack worked on the family farm until he enlisted into the Army. He served for two years during the Korean Conflict. After the service, he returned to Barron where he married Betty Isaacson on February 21, 1958. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2020.
In 1959, he and his family were transferred to Appleton, as a salesman for Peters Meat Company. In 1961, he and his family were transferred to Green Bay where he worked for Reimers Meats then Klements Sausage Company as a salesman and then Regional Sales Manager until his retirement in 2005.
Jack especially enjoyed going to their cottage on Shawano Lake. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as fishing, boating, golfing, and the Packers. He loved joking around with everyone, especially the grandkids. For many years, Jack and Betty spent the winter months in Texas.
Jack is survived by: five children and their spouses: Sherri (Steve) Raymakers, Kathy (Curt) VandenPlas, John (Kerrith) Kasel, Mark (Albert) Kasel, and Jeffrey “Chico” (Mandy) Kasel; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law: Rosemary (Victor) Vanderslice; two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Matt (Sandi) Kasel, Raymond (Gloria) Kasel, and Veronica Kasel; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Betty; his brother: Gerald; and sister: Ramona Starkey.
A funeral service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 12:00 pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 9th St., with Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm. Jack will be laid to rest at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
