Obituary

Joshua R. Uttermark, age 34, of DePere, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023 surrounded by his family at Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee after a courageous battle against leukemia.

Joshua was born July 5, 1989 in Marshfield, son of Jon Gause and Lynn Uttermark.  He was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the Class of 2007.  Josh then attended the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse and graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance.

Josh played football, hockey, and baseball at Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids and continued his passion for athletics throughout his life.

Josh was very disciplined by lifting weights and exercising daily and was in great shape and took pride in his health.  He also loved taking his dog Finn for walks each day.

Survivors include his wife:  Karlee Uttermark; his children:  Reese and Nora.  His father and stepmother Jon and Jen Gause, His mother and stepfather Lynn and Dan Schroer.  His brothers Adam (Jessica) and Caleb Schroer, Lucas, Carsen, and Kellen Gause.  His father and mother-in-law Kirk and Terri Becker.  His grandfather's Bob Gause and Jack Uttermark.  His grandmother Avis Schroer.  His grandpa and grandma Marvin and Dorothy Goldberg. His brother and sister-in-law Billy and Logan Tilot along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandma Judy Gause, his maternal grandma Mary Lou Uttermark, and his grandfather Leonard Schroer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2023 at Nativity of our Lord Parish (2270 S. Oneida St.), Green Bay.  Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Matt Simonar and Deacon John Bundra with a private family burial to take place at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  The visitation will continue on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.

The Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Green Bay is assisting the Uttermark family with funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to family and friends for support and prayers through his fight this last year.  We would also like to extend a thank you to the staff at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay and Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee and his bone marrow donor who gave him six extra years allowing him to marry the love of his life and have two beautiful daughters.  We welcome anyone attending the funeral to join our family and wear an item with the color red, it was Josh’s favorite color.
