Joyce Dillon Obituary

Joyce Ann (King) Dillon, 88, longtime resident of Ashwaubenon, passed away on April 7th 2021 surrounded by her loving family, at the Woodside Nursing Home, after entering hospice care on March 31st.

Joyce was born in Chicago, and was the youngest and last surviving child of the late Lawrence and Alice King. She was preceded in death by her sister Shirlee Moe, brother Bob King, and just within the last three months, her dear sister Jean Gibbs.

She married James Dillon on October 15, 1951 in Houston, TX, where he was stationed in the US Air Force. She was preceded in death by Jim in 2011, just two months shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Ronda Rudd, less than a year ago.

Besides being a homemaker for her six children, Joyce was an avid bridge player and a founding member of the Ashwaubenon Faculty Wives Club. She was a proud member and for a time, President of the Ashwaubenon Lioness Club, as well as being a district officer. She went back to school after her children were grown to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, which she enjoyed for a number of years and was an office manager as well!

Joyce was an avid reader all of her life. She enjoyed spy stories and historical novels the best. She also read the newspaper every day and followed current events with an eye to making the world a better place for all people. She was truly heart-broken by many of the recent changes that were occurring in Wisconsin and the entire country.

After being a “dog person” for most of her life, she was pleasantly surprised to find much love for, and companionship from, her cat Lambeau over the last eight years!

Joyce is survived by five of her children, James Dillon Jr and wife Fran, Patrick Dillon and wife Cathy Clark, Christopher Dillon, Timothy Dillon, and Marsha LaTulip. Joyce also leaves behind nine grandchildren; Tracey, Jamie, Christopher, Rax, Scot, Sara, Ian, Elena, and Andrew, as well as six great grandchildren; Dillon, Aubree, Katarina, Kenny, Anna and Junior. She also leaves one great great grandchild Adalynn. She also leaves many other relatives and many loving friends.

Visitation will be held at Lyndahl Funeral Home on Saturday April 17th from 12:30 until the Memorial Service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joyce’s name can be made to the March of Dimes or Habitat for Humanity. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.

The family would like to acknowledge Joyce’s “First Granddaughter”, Tracey Sorenson, for her daily and constant support of Joyce during the past three months.

Joyce wanted to specifically acknowledge the following: Judy Kropp for taking care of both her and her husband Jim for so many years. Also the staff at the Renaissance Assisted Living for providing good care as well as “fun times in my last years!” and finally Mary Ann Devine and Rae Hansen for making sure she got out to lunch once a month with her former Faculty Wives Club members! As with so many other things, Joyce has the last word on this…”So many people have been so good to me!”
