Karen Grace Borst, 72, of Green Bay passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024 after a short illness.
Karen was born on August 14, 1952 in Menominee, MI, daughter of Frances Evans Strickland. Karen graduated in 1970 from Stephenson High School. On June 7, 1980, Karen married Randy “Brock” Borst in Marinette, WI. Karen worked at St. Vincent Hospital until her retirement in 2017.
Karen was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Green Bay. She led 12 mission trips to Central America, she was involved with Operation Christmas Child “Shoebox”, and donated her time, talent and treasures making dresses for Seaglass Ministries in Jamaica. Karen was an avid reader, enjoyed baking, and traveling with her husband Randy “Brock” to all the lower 48 states, including 30 national parks, and most recently to Portugal with her two daughters. She loved being a grandma and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and would drive any distance just to spend time with them. Karen was the best wife, mom, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Karen is survived by her husband: Randy “Brock” Borst; three children: Becky (Bob) Garnell, Emilie (Zeb) Bryner, and Cody Borst; three grandchildren: Gabe, Eli, and Aubrey; one brother: Bob Strickland, Marinette; three sisters: Marilyn (Ed) Parpart, Carol Marcin, and Noreen (Dale) Caylor; and one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Ruth Ann (Dan) Wesoloski. She is further survived by special nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her mom: Frances Strickland; two brothers-in-law: Jim Borst, and Gary Borst; beloved niece: Judy; and beloved nephew: Tristan.
A memorial service to celebrate Karen’s life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1731 St. Agnes Drive, with Rev. Michael Hanson officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church on Friday, January 3, 2025 at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
