Kenneth (Von) Vernon Krueger formerly of Green Bay, Wisconsin passed away on May 24th, 2026. Ken recently celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by family.
Ken was born on April 28, 1926, in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, son of the late Julius and Amalia “Molly” (Reinert) Krueger. He was drafted in 1944 after graduating from high school and proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Forces and later in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. In WWII he served in the Pacific and was trained as a radio mechanic. After WWII, Ken remained in the Air Force Reserve for over 20 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was recognized for his service on an honor flight to Washington D.C. Following his service, Ken worked in sheet metal, heating/refrigeration and in maintenance at a hotel and medical clinic. He also volunteered for many years with Disabled American Veterans and the Neville Public Museum. In 2001 he received a Wisconsin Public Service Golden Rule Award for outstanding commitment to the community.
Ken was united in marriage to the former Gloria Kuklinski in 1970 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Green Bay. Ken and Gloria traveled the globe together, visiting many countries, including China, Argentina and the Soviet Union. She preceded him in death in 2020.
Ken had varied pastimes and interests and continued pursuing adventures as he aged. Some highlights include a rafting trip with his son Kim on the Colorado River and sky diving in his 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Ken was also a diehard Packers and Brewers fan, an avid reader, a potato pancake connoisseur and a lover of Dachshunds.
Ken is survived by his Brother Rodney Krueger; Son Kim Krueger (Ellen), Daughter Susan Schrader (Chuck), Son Mark Krueger, Son Michael Calba, Daughter Mary Francois and daughter-in-law Carolyn Calba; his grandchildren Michael Krueger (Hailey), Matthew Krueger (Mariah), Shaun Schrader (Meaghan), Shannon Collishaw (Brendan), Sarah Gagne (Rob), Rebecca Francois, Kendall Lawson, Jacqueline Calba, Peter Calba (Emily) and Dorothy Calba as well as 6 great grandchildren and many loving Nieces and Nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Julius & Amalia Krueger, his wife Gloria Krueger, his brothers Arthur and Alvin, his son Kerry Calba and his daughter-in law Philomene Calba.
Graveside Services will be held at Allouez Catholic Cemetery on June 6th at 12pm.
