Lana Jane Kanitz

Lana Jane Kanitz, age 63, of Green Bay, WI died unexpectedly of natural causes Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Lana was born April 3, 1959, to Gene and Carol (Smith) Kanitz. She was a 1977 graduate of Alma High School, in Alma MI and received her BA in Music Performance from Cal State University in Fullerton, CA in 1987. She worked at Gannett in Public Notices for the last 5 years and was a JC Penney sales associate when she moved to Green Bay from Southern California in 2011. She held several positions while she lived in California including Office Manager, Paralegal, and Events Supervisor/ Publicist for Citrus College Performing Arts Center, as well as being a Caregiver to many.

Lana believed wholeheartedly that it is Jesus who leads and saves us and we are to follow Him and serve others faithfully. She was a member of Huntington Beach Baptist Church in California and then Highland Crest Baptist Church in Green Bay, WI. She was a member of their Choirs & Praise Teams, Bible Studies, and Singles groups. She also was highly involved in Children’s ministry where she felt she was called to serve.

She is survived by her Stepmother: Jean Kanitz of St. Louis, MI; her sisters: Lisa (Randy) Roskom of Green Bay, WI, and Lori (Chuck) Sadler of Macomb, MI; and the Sadler children: Callie Sadler, Kirsty (Joe) Moon and Charles (Dani) Sadler and grandchildren: Charlie and Tommy Sadler.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Gene and Carol (Smith) Kanitz; and her brother: Linn Kanitz.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 5:00 pm at Highland Crest Baptist Church, 1830 Military Avenue, Green Bay with Pastor Chad Hertler officiating. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm until the time of service.
