Lawrence “Larry” M. McKay Jr., 88, of Green Bay passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at his home.
Larry was born on February 1, 1936, in Goodman, Wisconsin to the late Lawrence M. and Clara (Bradle) McKay, Sr. Larry was a graduate of Beloit Catholic High School. On August 15, 1959, he married Janet Studt in Beloit, Wisconsin. He was employed for many years at Paper Converting Machine Corporation until his retirement in March 1998. Larry was a member of the Local 1102 UAW Union. He enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, dart ball, bowling, traveling, going up north to Dunbar, and cherished time spent with family and friends. He loved watching football and was an avid Packer Fan.
Larry is survived by his wife of 65 years: Janet McKay, Green Bay; one son and daughter-in-law: Martin (Christine) McKay, Venice, FL; two daughters and one son-in-law: Mari McKay, Green Bay, and Marlene (Gary) Wanek-Sukowaty, Green Bay; seven grandchildren: Brian (Lisa) McKay, Kelly McKay (Devin Holiday), Patrick Fox, Brice Fox, Nash Wanek, Paige McKay, and Molly McKay; two great-grandchildren: Aydin McKay and Brody McKay; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Carla (Darwin) Grover, and Sandy McKay; and two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Donald (Sally) Studt, and Lanny (Joy) Studt. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence and Clara McKay; one grandson: Ty VanKilsdonk; one sister and brother-in-law: Janice and Jack Larson; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Bill and Hope Studt.
A private family gathering to celebrate Larry’s life was held on Friday, January 31, 2025. Larry’s nephew, Fr. John Larson officiated, and inurnment took place at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
