Lawrence “Larry” Victor Sikowski, 93, of Green Bay passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at his home.
Larry was born on September 5, 1929 in Crivitz to the late Bernard and Agnes (Graczkowski) Sikowski. He was a graduate of Crivitz High School. Larry served his country in the United States Army, serving in Korea during the Korean War. On October 24, 1953, he married the former Elsie Spooner. Larry worked many years at Fort Howard until his retirement.
Larry was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, where he served as usher, funeral dinner committee, church picnic, decorating for the seasons, St. Vincent de Paul, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. At St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Crivitz, Larry was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Over the years he was a Webelo leader and a member of the Crivitz American Legion Post 413, and Green Bay - Ashwaubenon VFW Post 2037, serving as Commander and Quarter Master. After retirement, Larry gave of his time for many organizations, including the Fort Howard Blood Drive, where he also was a blood donor, SHARE program in Ashwaubenon, and was a Hunter Safety Instructor. Larry enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching sports, hunting, fishing, especially the fishing trips in Canada, woodworking, and going to the cottage up north and working in the woods.
Larry is survived by his loving wife: Elsie; children: Larry (Melanie) Sikowski, JoAnn (Melvin) Peters, Ronald Sikowski, and Donald (fiancé Teresa) Sikowski; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Edward (Margaret) Sikowski, James (Sandy) Sikowski, Marge Sikowski, and Mary Sikowski. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents: Bernard and Agnes Sikowski; parents-in-law: Winfred and Marie Spooner; brothers and sisters: Tony Sikowski, Tillie (Hank) Huc, Mary (Frank) Samsa, Val (Ilene) Sikowski, Bob Sikowski, infant twin sisters Florence and Lenore Sikowski, Ray Sikowski, and Rich Sikowski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert (Earline) Spooner, Lois (Art) Kagebein, Jerry Spooner, and John (Ethel) Spooner, and one step-grandchild.
A funeral service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 2270 S. Oneida St., with Rev. Matt Simonar officiating. Military Honors will follow the service with the Green Bay - Ashwaubenon VFW Post 2037. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Larry will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Crivitz.
