LeRoy Sroda Obituary

LeRoy Sroda, 84, passed away on July 12, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. He was born on January 6, 1934 to the late Frank and Tessie (Hintz) Sroda.

LeRoy married the love of his life, Mary Lou Sroda, on June 25th, 1960 at St. Stanislaus Church in Stevens Point. They were married for 56 wonderful years and raised three children. LeRoy served in the Army in Fairbanks, Alaska for two years, earned his bachelor’s degree from UW Stevens Point and his master’s degree from the University of Michigan.

After college he started his professional career in Algoma, WI teaching science and coaching varsity basketball. After several years he moved to Ashwaubenon High School where he continued to coach and teach science and driver’s education for over 30 years.

LeRoy felt blessed to see his kids get married and enjoyed watching his grandchildren in many different sports, musicals and concerts throughout the years.  He truly valued education and was proud to see his children and grandchildren complete higher educational journeys.

LeRoy’s positive attitude throughout his life was infectious.  He loved making people laugh with his humor.  His favorite place to relax was his cottage by the lake.  His hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.  He found his greatest joy when in the company of the love of his life, Mary Lou.

LeRoy is survived by his son, Rick (Connie) of North Bend, Washington; and his children, Mikayla (Chad), Miriah (Ross) and Miranda; son, Mike (Mari) Sroda of Janesville, WI; and their children, Scott, Ciarra and Ross; daughter, Jill (David) Giesler of Phoenix, Arizona and their children, Nicole, Brett and Brody; Grayson, Sloan and Staale (Great Grandchildren); brother, Ronald Sroda (Dorothy); daughter-in-law, Michelle Gauthier; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou and parents, Frank and Tessie.
