Louis M. Wassenberg was called home to be with Jesus on Saturday Nov. 12th, 2022, at the age of 93. He was born to the late Martin and Theresa Wassenberg on December 24th, 1928, in De Pere, WI.
Louis was a proud member of the US Navy at the end of WW2. He met the love of his life LaVerne Virgiels, and they were married in Dubuque, Iowa on March 17th, 1951. They had sixty-nine wonderful years together. They traveled all over the county on vacations. Louis retired from the postal service in 2000 after 28 years. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran church for 65 years. Louis was an avid Packers and Brewers fan and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
He is survived by his son: Steven (Rose) Wassenberg; daughter: Marlene Tasquin; grandchildren: Tammy Ferron, Gary (Sheila) Ferron, Michelle LeCleir (Adam Krause), Matthew Wassenberg, Jason Wassenberg (Jasmine Schommer), Cindy (Shane) Ingalls, Glen Pearce, Michelle Pearce, and Cathlene Pearce; ten great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife: LaVerne; infant son: Craig Wassenberg; son-in-law: Jerry Tasquin; and twelve brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will occur, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 S. Oneida Street, Green Bay, with the Reverend Paul Pett officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am, followed by full military honors. Entombment will follow at Allouez Mausoleum.
