Lyla Jane (Darling) Alberts

Lyla Jane Alberts, 90, of Green Bay, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Marla Vista Assisted Living in Green Bay.

Lyla was born on August 1, 1931 in Shawano to Lloyd and Mollie (Eul) Darling. She was a graduate of Shawano High School. She served her country in the United States Army during the Korean War. In May of 1951, she married Julius Alberts. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1992. Lyla was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and later served others as a Foster Grandma.

Lyla was a member of Oakbrook church, where she grew in her faith and built connections with her church family. She was a breast cancer survivor and American Red Cross blood donor and was a member of the 10 gallon club. Lyla was an avid Green Bay Packer and Ashwaubenon Jaguar fan. She loved playing bingo, board games and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Lyla is survived by her children: James (Linda) Alberts of Green Bay, Gerald (Patti) Alberts of Green Bay, David (Cheryl) Alberts of DePere, Dawn (Peter Doney) Riley of Green Bay, and Lynne (Phil) Rose of DePere; her precious grandchildren: John (Michelle), Amy (Ben), Jason, Adam, Thomas, Alexander, Holly (Jeremy), Jeremy, Mollie (Haldan), Michael, Mason, Andrew, and Weston; 10 great-grandchildren; brother: Curtis (Barbara) Darling; sister: Karen Amsdill; and sister-in-law: Adris Alberts. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lyla was preceded in death by her husband: Julius; parents: Lloyd and Mollie Darling; parents-in-law: Jules and Hattie Alberts; brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

A funeral service to celebrate Lyla’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the Lyndahl Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Schmechel officiating. Military honors will follow. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. A time of fellowship and lunch will follow.
