Marjorie Hietpas Obituary

Marjorie A. (Marge) Hietpas (Van Ess), age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025.  She was born in Green Bay on May 22, 1937, the eldest daughter of the late Carl and Lena Van Ess.  Marge graduated from St. Joseph Academy and then worked in the banking industry and later in the title insurance field.  Marge’s most important role in life was being a loving wife and mother to her six children.

Marjorie married Eugene T. Hietpas at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Green Bay on December 28, 1963.  Gene and Marjorie were long-time members of Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church where they both spent countless hours supporting the Church.  Marge was a religious education teacher, office support secretary, and helped with baptismal preparation. She was always ready to serve.  Her faith was an enormous part of her beautiful life.

Marge was the most devoted mother, and commitment to her family was the hallmark of her life. She was loved by so many and was known for her faith in God, humility, and ability to connect with everyone she met. Her life was a lesson in love, hard work, and faith, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide all who knew her. Marge was a remarkable woman who lived a life full of love, selflessness, and unparalleled dedication to her family.

She is survived by five children:  Annette (Steve) Noles, Lynn (Steve) Smith, Nancie (Kevin) Brennan, Jay (Jodi) Hietpas and Chad (Kristin) Hietpas.  She was preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl (Michael) Lindsley.  Marge was an extremely proud grandmother to:  Parker (Danielle) Noles, Mary Beth (Willard) Logan, Katie (Alex) Wilson, Michael and Megan Smith, Benjamin (Alison) Lindsley and Zachary (Shanna) Lindsley, Thomas (Vanessa) Brennan, Ellise and Owen Brennan, Holly and Brady Hietpas, Bella and Charlotte Hietpas, and great-grandmother to Avery and Olivia Noles, Cannon Logan, and Camden Lindsley.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Hietpas, daughter Cheryl Lindsley, parents Carl and Lena Van Ess, father-in-law and mother-in-law Norbert and Josephine Hietpas, brother Anthony (Sandy) Van Ess, brother Jerome (Jeanne) Van Ess, brother-in-law Leo (Karen) Hietpas, sister-in-law Lois (Carl) Hietpas, and brother-in-law Calvin (Arlene) Kaufman.

A funeral service to celebrate Marjorie’s life will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Parish, 2270 S. Oneida Street.  Relatives and friends may greet the family at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.lyndahl.com.  Since her Catholic faith was so important, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to her church (Nativity of Our Lord Parish) or Unity Hospice in memory of her.  The family would like to thank everyone at Dimensions Assisted Living Facility, Unity Hospice and HomeInstead for their care.
