Marjorie "Marje" Crowl Obituary

Marje was born on July 22, 1923, in Iron River, Michigan, the daughter of Arnold and Grace (Post) Krause. They moved to Green Bay in 1931. Her parents died when she was an adult.

She attended schools in Watersmeet, MI and Green Bay, graduating from West High School in 1941. She went to Carroll College in Waukesha and graduated in 1945. She was selected for “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.” Her employment history included work as a Social Studies teacher at the Kiel, WI High School and as an accountant for International Harvester Company. She married Richard Crowl in 1974; he died in 1982.

Marje’s volunteer activities and interests included the Hazelwood Historic House, Heritage Hill State Park, Neville Public Museum, Green Bay Botanical Garden, and Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. She was a member of Martha Washington #124 Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years, and also part of the Green Bay Shrine Club Women’s Auxiliary. She received Brown County Historical Society’s award for her years of historical interpretation.

She enjoyed traveling and was proud to have been to all 50 states and all the continents except one. Every summer until she was in her late eighties she enjoyed time at her cottage on Grindstone Lake near Hayward.

Thanks to all her friends for their love, support, and friendship through the years. Special thanks to Michelle Bolzenthal, Lisa Solper, and Nancy Kwaterski.
