Mary F. Frain, age 81, of New Franken passed away Sunday, October 11, 2022, at Cottonwood Assisted Living Center, Green Bay.
Mary was born July 25, 1941, in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Paul and Lillian (Ozmina) Gralak. Sister to brother John T. (Violetta) Gralak, the late Barbara (John) Rockwell, and the late brother Martin Gralak. She graduated from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago, IL with the Class of 1959. On July 1, 1967, she was united in marriage to Charles J. Frain in Chicago, IL. Mary earned her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree from Wright College in Chicago, IL in 1984.
Mary proudly worked for 15 years for the Chicago Tribune, and as an LPN in the newborn nursery at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago, IL for over 20 years. In addition, she worked for the late Sirus Hadawi, M.D. in his pediatric practice in the Resurrection Professional Building for over 15 years, until she retired in 2003. Mary also enjoyed a 10-year career working for the Lustig Jewelry Family at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL where she enjoyed her love of jewelry and helping customers pick out their treasures.
Mary's true passion in life, however, was her generosity to, and love of her family, especially her only son Patrick, and her granddaughters Hannah Frain (18) and Morgan Frain (13). Mary loved spending time running her errands with her husband Chuck Frain, and enjoyed beautiful holidays with her daughter-in-law, Susan (Holtquist) Frain.
Mary enjoyed spending time in Door County, Wisconsin with her co-owners at The Waterbury Inn for over 30 years. In her younger days, Mary enjoyed travel to Hawaii and Florida, as well as time in Racine, WI on the family sailboat. In recent years, Mary enjoyed numerous annual trips to Walt Disney World with her family, extended family, and Grandchildren, as well as attending over one hundred dance recitals, and dance competitions that her granddaughters performed in locally, and across the country.
Survivors include her husband, Charles J. Frain; her son, Patrick C. Frain, D.C.; her daughter-in-law, Susan H. Frain, D.C.; her granddaughters, Hannah M. Frain and Morgan L. Frain; her brother and sister-in-law, John T. and Violetta Gralak (Illinois); her nephew Thomas (Susan) Diederich (Arizona) and great-nephews Robert Diederich (Illinois), and the late Eric Diederich (Illinois); her niece Rosanne (Ronald) Balance (Florida). Extended survivors include: Charles (Muriel) Holtquist (Florida); Ann Holtquist (Wisconsin); Karen (late, Phillip) Holtquist (Illinois); Carolyn (Joseph) Russo (Texas); Thomas Holtquist (Illinois); Sophie Holtquist (Illinois); Braeden Holtquist (Illinois); and numerous members of the extended Frain family throughout the country.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Parish (5996 County Road K, New Franken). Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Fr. Daniel Schuster with burial to take place following services in the church cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Lyndahl Funeral Home, Green Bay on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Parish from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials directed to Project ADAM of the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
