Mary M. (Gilson) Holtz

Mary M. Holtz, age 94, of Suamico, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home, Green Bay.

Mary was born October 14, 1931 in Shawano, daughter of the late Earl and Georgiana (Ketter) Gilson.  She was a graduate of High School with the Class of 1948.  On April 24, 1954 she was united in marriage to Donald E. Holtz in Shawano.  He preceded her in death on December 9, 2000.

Mary worked at Machine Services in Green Bay.

Mary enjoyed spending time with family, shopping and she enjoyed baking and cooking.  Mary made the best chocolate chip cookies, red velvet cake, peanut butter balls and enjoyed playing Scrabble.  She had a strong catholic faith and rarely missed a church service.

Survivors include her son Paul Holtz, her grandchildren Charles Schmeda, Maggie (Jason) Kauer, Georgiana Karl, Emily Jams, Mckenzie Holtz and Mattie Holtz, and 6 great grandchildren Alaya, Aubrey, Everly, Dylan, Daisy and Sawyer.  Mary was preceded in death by her parents Earl & Georgiana Gilson, her husband Donald E. Holtz, her daughters Ann Karl and Jean Barbeau and her brothers Patrick Gilson, John “Jack” Gilson and Ralph Gilson.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2026 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Suamico.  Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Eric Ondieki.  Inurnment of her remains will take place at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum following the service.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:00 a.m.
