Mary Van Deuren Obituary

Mary Kathleen Van Deuren, age 80, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on Friday, September 15, 1944 at St. Mary’s Hospital to the late James and Audrey (Neville) Gittens.

Mary attended St. Joseph Academy and graduated in 1963.

She found the love of her life, and married the late William “Bill” Van Deuren on November 7, 1964 at St. Matthews Catholic Church. Together, they had three children, and spent 56 loving years together until he was called home in 2020.

Mary enjoyed keeping their yard a welcoming place for birds and other wildlife. She loved to cook, and will be remembered for hosting Holiday parties for Christmas Eve. She always had her hair nicely kept and took pride in her beautiful appearance. She and Bill were proud shareholders of the Green Bay Packers, and also held two season tickets on the 40 yard line. Mary was employed as a waitress at the Hoffman House, the Wellington and she later began bartending at Geano Beach Bar & Grill, where she was admired for her hard working ethic which left an imprint on everyone she met.

She took pride in her collectables which included her Precious Moment figurines, Furby’s and most notably, her late son, Jon’s artwork. She and Bill were longtime members of the Moose Lodge. They were long-time beloved clientele at the Packer Stadium Lounge, and Cropseys. When Mary was at home you could often find her watching some of her favorite TV shows such as Family Feud, America’s Funniest Home Videos, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and America Says.
