Maxine Cayce-Cashman Obituary

Maxine Cayce-Cashman, age 92, of De Pere, passed peacefully away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at her home.

Maxine was born on May 30, 1932, in Green Bay, daughter of the late Louis and Mina (Monette) Edlbeck. She was a 1950 graduate of Green Bay East High School and was a graduate of Carroll College in Waukesha with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. In July of 1954, Maxine was married to John “Ted” Cayce at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1994. On November 6, 1999 Maxine was married to John Cashman. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2011.

Following her marriage to Ted Cayce, the couple moved to Kansas City, MO, where she began her employment as a research assistant with Spencer Chemical. In 1957, the couple moved back to Green Bay where Ted began working at the family company, L. A. Edlbeck. After her children were raised, Maxine worked for L. A. Edlbeck as a candy and snack buyer, retiring in 2000 to focus on traveling. 

Maxine enjoyed flower gardening, traveling both domestic and international. Her favorite destination was Japan. She also traveled to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Egypt, China and South America. In the past, Maxine enjoyed snow skiing, going to the cottage at Lee Lake, square dancing, and playing Bridge. She was a voracious reader. She was a member of Nativity of the Lord Catholic Parish. 

Survivors include her 4 sons and one daughter-in-law: Gregg (Julie) Cayce, Brian Cayce, Scott Cayce, and Sean Cayce; two stepchildren: Matthew (Melissa) Cashman and Laura (David) Klarkowski; 9 grandchildren: Quinn (Allison) Cayce, Jennifer (David) Wiluth, Collin (Taralee) Cayce, Tara Cayce, Brittany Cayce, Kayleigh (Abe) Nirschl, Kyle (Stephanie) Cayce, Justin Cayce, and Lindsey Shea; 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter Wendy Cayce; 2 husbands John “Ted” Cayce and John Cashman; her parents Louis and Mina Edlbeck; 2 daughters-in-law: Sue Naug and Lisa Cayce.

Relatives and friends may call at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., Green Bay, on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Matt Simonar officiating the Mass of Christian Burial, with entombment at Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
