Michael “Mike” J. Cole, 83, of Green Bay passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2023.
Mike was born on October 24, 1939 in Green Bay to the late Donald and Alice (Lorang) Cole. He was a graduate of Oconto Falls High School. On September 25, 1965, he married the former Linda Blazer at Zion Methodist Church in Green Bay. Mike served his country in both the National Guard and the United States Navy. He had the privilege this past June to go on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Mike was an Iron Worker and member of the Local 8, he was known as Iron Mike.
Mike had a passion for football and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, he enjoyed playing cribbage with friends on Saturday mornings, solitaire, word searches, and watching Jeopardy. He cherished the time at the cabin up north with his son, brothers, and nephews. Mike’s fun loving, sarcastic sense of humor always made an impression on people, creating new friendships everywhere he went. He was always willing to help out a friend or neighbor and spent time volunteering and participating with retiree fundraisers.
Mike is survived by his wife: Linda; children: Tina (Daniel) Schwarzinger, Susan (Russell) Styczynski, and Matthew (significant other Jennifer Thompson); grandchildren: Alexandria (fiancé Colin Modschiedler) and Benjamin Styczynski; brothers and sisters: Patricia (Lester) Plude, Timothy Cole, Danny (Theresa) Cole, Christine (Earle) Gray, and Ellen Cole; brother-in-law: Richard (Shirley) Blazer. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his parents: Donald and Alice Cole; brother: Terry Cole; and mother-in-law: Verna Blazer.
A funeral service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at Suamico Methodist Church, 3266 Lakeview Dr. Suamico, with Rev. Robb McClintock officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave. Green Bay, from 4:30 – 7:30 pm, and again on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the CHURCH from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Mike will be laid to rest at Fort Howard Cemetery.
