Millerd Kucksdorf, Jr. Obituary

Millerd D. Kucksdorf, 64, known to everyone as “JR” or “Doug” from Green Bay, WI, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully with his loving family by his side on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

Doug was born on January 21, 1957, son of the late Millerd Sr. & Dorothy Kucksdorf.  On May 10, 1980, he married his best friend and life partner, Sandra Richter, in Navarino, WI.

How do you sum up the measure of a man who was our everything. To us he was a wonderfully devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He was a man who never said “no” and was always willing to help out at a moment’s notice. Doug loved traveling and motorcycling with his wife. He took pleasure spending time at his family land in Bowler, WI where he enjoyed deer hunting for many years. He also enjoyed spending time up at the cottage in Laona, WI with family and friends, especially with his grandchildren where he taught them how to fish and waterski. Doug was his children’s and grandchildren’s biggest supporter in all their endeavors and was a steadfast presence in their lives.  He was naturally gifted working with his hands and seemed there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. His life’s story holds too many experiences and adventures to sum up in one place but will live on through the memories shared with his family and friends.

Doug served his country in the Army from 1975 to 1980, serving in Kansas, Korea, and Yuma, Arizona. After the military he was employed at Penske Truck as a diesel mechanic for 25 years.  From there he worked for Fourinox for 15 years as a metal fabricator until his retirement in 2019.  After retirement, he worked side-by-side with his son at his son’s shaved ice business, Ice Clouds. There he became a fast favorite among all the employees who affectionately named him “Papa Ice.” He cherished his time at the shop with his son and all the employees and loved being able to pass along his knowledge and wisdom to them.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Kucksdorf; two children, Brandon (Dana) Kucksdorf and Kayla (Zachary) Jaraczewski; two grandchildren, Brooklyn and Callen Kucksdorf with Baby Jaraczewski on the way; one sister, Donna (John) VanBuecken; one brother, Dan (Marie) Kucksdorf; two brother-in-laws, Jeffrey (Bonnie) Richter, James (Cara) Richter; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Millerd Sr. and Dorothy Kucksdorf; his father and mother-in-law, John and Emily Richter; one brother, David Kucksdorf; and one nephew, David Richter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021, at St. Agnes Parish, 1484 9th St., Green Bay, WI, with visitation from 9:00am until the time of service at 11:00am with Father Patrick Beno officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial.
