Monica Spaude Obituary

Monica Rose Spaude, age 91, of DePere passed away peacefully Thursday, July 17, 2025 with her children at her side.

She left behind a legacy of faith, joy, and adventure, along with an unwavering love for the water.   Monica’s flower gardens instilled beauty in every yard and garden she tended at home and in the community.  The quilts she gifted to others with fabrics and patterns carefully selected and sewed will be treasured.

That zest for life she carried with her daily was evident to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren when she attended their sporting events cheering them on from the stands, sewed special quilts, played on the toys at the park, and walked through her flower gardens.

Born July 10, 1934 in Marinette to the late Frank and Dorothy (Cook) Dory, Monica was raised in Marinette WI.  She was a graduate of Lourdes High School with the Class of 1952.

Monica met Loren, the love of her life and husband of 63 years at Ansel Fire Protection Company where they both worked. On May 14, 1955 she was united in marriage to Loren L. Spaude at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marinette.

Together they built homes in Menominee, Ashwaubenon, and Sturgeon Bay, but it was Ashwaubenon that truly became their cherished home. They raised their children there and  immersed themselves in the community contributing to its growth and well-being. Their love for Ashwaubenon was evident in every aspect of their lives.

Monica was preceded in death by her husband, Loren in 2018 and her brothers Tom and Henry Dory.

Monica surrounded herself with family: children; Steve (Leni) Spaude, Scott (Amy) Spaude, Beth (Paul) Krueger, Stuart (Brenda) Spaude, Spencer (Julie) Spaude; grandchildren;  Sierra (Kevin) Smalley, Sawyer (Hannah) Spaude, Ryan Spaude, Kaitlyn Spaude, Cortney (Chad) Blohm, Rebecca (Adam) Beckman, Lance (Brooke) Spaude, Justin (Jolee) Spaude and Tony (Shameiko) Spaude; great grandchildren; Tobin Smalley, Mason and Aria Blohm, Cooper and Camden Beckman, and Joseph Spaude.

Monica is survived by her sister Pat Ackerman, brother Frank Dory, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Monica worked at Ansul Fire Protection Company in Menominee, Montgomery Wards in Green Bay, and Sweet Basil in Door County, but her primary role was raising her family.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:00 a.m.  A memorial service to celebrate Monica’s vibrant life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Nativity of Our Lord Parish.  Officiating at the Mass of Christian burial will be Father Matt Simonar with burial of her remains to take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
