Nyla Joan Cegelski, 86, of Green Bay, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Bishop’s Court in Allouez.
Nyla was born on February 13, 1935 in Green Bay to the late Benedict and Flora (Schoen) Vanden Plas. She was a graduate of Green Bay East High School. On August 2, 1958, Nyla married Richard Cegelski at St. Willebrord Catholic Church in Green Bay. Nyla worked for over 25 years at Morley-Murphy, until her retirement.
Nyla is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ashwaubenon, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan, and also enjoyed playing bridge, camping, especially in Quietwoods, and being a snowbird to Lakeland, FL for 16 years.
Nyla is survived by her husband; Richard; three children: Lynn (Kevin) Vander Meulen, Michael Cegelski, and Paul Cegelski; six grandchildren: Jessica Vander Meulen, Jason (Lara) Vander Meulen, Katie Cegelski, Ryan (Nick) Cegelski, Brandon Cegelski and Adam Cegelski; two great-granddaughters: Kelsey and Kourtney Vander Meulen; and one sister: Marge Singer. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Nyla was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother and sisters: Robert, Annette and Doris.
A funeral service to celebrate Nyla’s life will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Lyndahl Funeral Home, Green Bay, with Rev. Josh Fite presiding. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the funeral home from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Burial will take place immediately following the service at St. John’s Cemetery in Ashwaubenon.
