Patricia (Pat) Evelyn (Sheedlo) Nelson went to her heavenly home on August 16, 2024 at the age of 88. She was born on March 17, 1936 in Escanaba, MI, the daughter of John and Signe (Buckland) Sheedlo. Pat graduated from Escanaba High School in 1954. Following graduation, she worked at the State Bank of Escanaba and Clairmont Transfer Company. Pat married the love of her life, Alf Norman Nelson in 1960. Alf preceded her in death in 1996. Together, the couple shared 36 years of marriage and raised four children.
They were long term members of Calvary Baptist Church where Pat devoted many years as the church pianist and organist. Pat’s favorite hymn was, “Because He Lives.” The couple enjoyed going to their cottage (Nelson’s Summer Hytte) with family and friends who meant the world to them. She and Alf also enjoyed traveling in their motorhome throughout the beautiful Upper Peninsula, as well as to Colorado.
Her family and friends will miss her dearly for her wonderful sense of humor, wit, and joyous demeanor about the smallest things in life. She never hesitated to hop on the line-dancing floor, spark up a conversation with a stranger, or poke fun, sing, and dance with her grandchildren.
Patricia is survived by her son, Mark Nelson (Lily) of Portage, WI, daughters Kari Flores, of Aurora, CO, Patti Nelson and Kelly Nelson, both of Green Bay, WI; Four grandchildren, Fena, Hunter (Beth), Katie, and Kellyn; Great grandchildren, Clementine and Macie; Sister Maxine (John) Jaeger, Escanaba, sister-in-law Edith (Sheedlo) Gosh, Antioch, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her baby sister Muriel, sisters Marvel (Allen) Goodman, and Margaret Quigley, brothers Harold (Jill), Ronald (Edith), and William (Marilyn) Sheedlo, and sisters-in-law Marilyn Sheedlo and Jill Sheedlo.
Honoring Pat’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no public funeral service. Burial will take place at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery, Wells, MI. The Lyndahl Funeral Home is assisting the family.
