Paul E. Butkovich, 79, of Green Bay passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Bellin Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Paul was born on July 20, 1944, in Houghton, MI to the late Peter and Lucille (Philpott) Butkovich. He is a graduate of Houghton High School, he then furthered his education at Michigan Tech where he excelled in football and achieved many accolades during and after his career. On September 9, 1967, Paul married his high school sweetheart, the former Lois Lantto in Hancock, MI. Paul was a hard-working salesman and entrepreneur.
Paul was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He was also heavily involved in area hockey for many years, including 20 years as head coach of the Ashwaubenon High School hockey team. Paul enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating and wildlife, but he was most passionate about spending time with family and friends. The love he had for his family and friends was truly amazing. The love he had for his grandkids was unmeasurable. He was patient, kind, and had a great sense of humor and was rarely seen without a twinkle in his eye.
Paul is survived by his wife of 56 years: Lois Butkovich, Green Bay; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Mark Butkovich, Milwaukee and Todd (Katy) Butkovich, Howard; three grandchildren: Matilda, Marlene, and Moses Butkovich, Howard; one sister-in-law: Judith Corsini, MI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Peter and Lucille Butkovich; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arthur and Helen Lantto; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Donna (Doug) Hiltunen, and Barbara (Bernie) Koskiniemi; one brother and sister-in-law: David (Kathy) Butkovich; and one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Sarah (Doug) Wells, and Bob Corsini.
A funeral service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 12:00 pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with Rev. Don Everts officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church from 9:00 am until the time of mass at 12:00 pm.
