Paul Curtis Thiel, age 86, of Ashwaubenon, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022. Paul was born in Berlin, Wisconsin on May 21, 1936, to the late Louis and Erna (Albrecht) Thiel. Paul grew up in Ripon and graduated from Ripon High School with the class of 1954.
On April 25, 1977, Paul married Elizabeth (Betty) Zanutto in Waupaca at the Chapel in the Woods. They were soulmates and did everything together for 45 years.
Paul was a proud, hard-working electrician who started his career learning from his father in Ripon. Paul started his own electrical business in Ripon and then went into refrigeration. He moved to the Green Bay area and worked for Northland Refrigeration, Verheyden Refrigeration and John’s Refrigeration, where he retired in 1999.
Paul was a jack of all trades and loved woodworking. He was a craftsman at his trade and hobbies. He built many pieces of furniture in his home. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage. He loved old cars and enjoyed going to a car show now and then. He was an avid Packer fan and season ticket holder and attended many historic games. He enjoyed a casual game of cribbage, dominoes, jigsaw puzzles and Sudoku. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Paul is survived by: his wife Elizabeth; his son Curtis Paul (Jody) Thiel, Oshkosh; his daughters: Terri Brandorff, FL; Jodi Fellin, Brookfield; Kim (Ernie) Babbitz, Oshkosh; Tammy Polfuss (Glen), De Pere; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Paul is preceded in death by: his parents Louis and Erna; his brothers and sisters-in-law Marland (Verna) Thiel, Louis (Frances) Thiel.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at The Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, with Pastor Earl Vorpagel III officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
