Randy Nichols Obituary

Randy R. Nichols, age 74, found peace at St Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay under the care of Unity Hospice on July 19, 2022. Randy was born in Rice Lake, Wi on July 14, 1948, to Wanda Gorsuch and Ron Nichols. He was the very definition of a wonderful man and had a sense of humor that could fill a room with laughter. He graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1966 and UW- Platteville in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in business and economics. Randy had many occupations throughout his life but the job he always fondly looked back on was his many years as a Disc Jockey. He even had his own show, “The Randy Nichols Morning Show” on WBOO in Baraboo, Wi. He spent several years in the early 1980s working for WBAY, much of the 90s and early 2000s at Ameritech, and finished his working years at Schneider Logistics. Randy had a part time job at Wild Birds Unlimited after his retirement that he truly loved. He was a hardworking man that never wanted to stop, but eventually Alzheimer’s made him slow down.

Randy spent many years helping his wife, Diane, run her craft business. He did the heavy lifting, the driving, and the running of errands and loved it. He adored trips to Door County and would almost hop off the balcony and run to the water when a wooden boat went past. His love of music was evident. He could talk about music for hour, from his favorite as young man, The Beach Boys, to his favorites in his later year, Michael Bublé and Neil Diamond. Randy also had fascination with trains. He had started setting up his own miniature track and loved to learn more about the history the railroad.

Surviving family includes his wife: Diane Nichols; his daughters: April (Craig) Shanks, Melissa Neilson, Angie (Sam) Kujak, Jennifer (Jason Kipp) Nichols. He had many loving grandchildren: Emma, Hailey, Katelyn, Alex, Lauren, Bella, and Harper. He has a great-grandchild on the way. Surviving family also includes his brothers: Mark (Mary Jo) Nichols, Craig (Sheri) Nichols, and Joel (Jessica)Nichols; and many nieces and nephews. Randy is preceded in death by his mother Wanda Gorsuch, stepfather Gordon Gorsuch, his father Ron Nichols, his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
