Richard W. Cegelski, age 85 of Ashwaubenon, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.
Richard was born December 7, 1936, in Green Bay to the late Harry and Veronica (Tyrrell) Cegelski. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1955 and went on to join the United States Navy where he served for 3 years. He married Nyla Vanden Plas on August 2, 1958, at St. Willebrord Catholic Church in Green Bay.
Richard was the co-owner of Bay Metro Glass and then finished his career retiring from HJ Martin and Son. Richard enjoyed bowling, camping, and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. He was a snowbird and was able to spend winters in Lakeland, Florida for 16 years.
Richard is survived by his daughter: Lynn (Kevin) Vander Meulen; sons: Michael (Laurie) Cegelski, Paul Cegelski; 6 grandchildren: Jessica Vander Meulen, Jason (Lara) Vander Meulen, Katie Cegelski, Ryan (Nick) Cegelski, Brandon Cegelski, Adam Cegelski; 2 great-grandchildren: Kelsey and Kourtney Vander Meulen; brother: Frederick (Judy) Cegelski; sister-in-law Sally Cegelski. The family would also like to acknowledge Richard’s lifelong friends Ron and Char Hermsen, Pat and Durleen McKeever, and the whole Quietwoods Gang. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife: Nyla; his parents: Harry and Veronica Cegelski; his grandparents: Joseph and Mary Cegelski; brother: Gerald Cegelski; and sister-in-law: Nancy Cegelski.
Per Richard’s wishes, no services will be held. Richard was laid to rest beside his wife at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Ashwaubenon.
