Richard enlisted in the Navy Reserves and later spent his active duty in Pearl Harbor serving under the Admiral of the Pacific Fleet.
On June 1, 1968, he married the love of his life, Beverly Jean Burge. They raised two sons, Ken (Athene) Lathrop and Mike Lathrop, and one daughter, Kristin (Phil) Turnbull. He was a doting grandpa to Evan, Emmey, Kaeden and Kylie. Richard is survived by his two brothers, Alan (Debra)Lathrop and LeRoy (Toni) Lathrop.
Spending time with family and friends whether it be camping, hiking, exploring Door County, laying on a beach in Antigua, cheering on his favorite sports teams, or playing cribbage, he enjoyed life to the fullest. He was always very supportive and loved being involved in his grandchildren’s activities. Richard volunteered his time at church spearheading multiple activities and events.
