Richard “Ric” Stanley Wawiorka, 77, of Suamico passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from heart failure caused by chemotherapy he endured from a 32 year battle and beating stage 4 Lymphoma three times caused by Agent Orange.
Ric was born on March 22, 1946 in Green Bay to the late Stanley and Rosemary (Buss) Wawiorka. He was a graduate of Oconto Falls High School, and furthered his education at NWTC, earning three Associate Degrees. Ric served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964-1968. On February 4, 1967, he married Donna Magee. Ric worked for 32 years as a millworker for Georgia Pacific. During his younger years Ric enjoyed hunting and fishing, later in life he enjoyed traveling with Donna, especially their annual trips to Hawaii and Maine.
Ric is survived by his wife: Donna Wawiorka; his children: Pagi (Gregg) Tank, Suamico, and Chad (Julie Krause) Wawiorka, Neenah; four grandchildren: Shane Tank, Martha’s Vineyard, Kaitlyn (Nick) Sparks, Abrams, Emilie Wawiorka, Woodbury, MN, and Theresa (Joey) Betley, Milwaukee; and three great-grandchildren: Ryker Sparks, Sariyah Tank, and Bhodi Tank. He was preceded in death by his parents: Stanley and Rosemary Wawiorka; parents-in-law: Robert and Helen Magee.
A private family service was held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes, with Rev. Seamus Neilson officiating. Ric is being laid to rest at Fort Howard Cemetery.
