Robert J. Sauer

Robert J. Sauer (Rob, Bob, Shooter, Jaws) passed away June 6,2021 peacefully with his family by his side. Robert was born on March 2, 1946, to the late Walt and Marie (Lehman) Sauer.  He graduated from Gwinn High School in 1964.  Rob attended mechanical refrigeration school in Chicago where he lived with his beloved Aunt Ione and Uncle Ted. In 1970 he moved to Green Bay and went through a steamfitter/welder apprenticeship program and became a proud member of the Local 400 Union. 

Rob had an infectious personality and made an impression on everyone he met. So much so, that if you met him, you probably have a memorable story. He always had “another little job” that needed to be done and kept everyone busier than hell out on “maneuvers”. He was never without a funny anecdote or story that would make you laugh and brighten your day.

Rob was a proud husband, father, “Yooper” and outdoors man. He spent his falls hunting in Leopolis, WI and summers at his up north camp in Little Lake, MI. Above all else, Rob enjoyed spending time with his “Lovie” Margaret (Miller) Sauer.  Jaws and Muggs were married on May 26th of 1972 and shared 49 years of marriage. 

His zest for life and strong family values will live on for years in the hearts and minds of his children and grandchildren. As will the many stories that are told of his kindness and humor. 

Rob is survived by his wife Muggs Sauer and their three children Margaret (Jason) Schomaker (Green Bay, WI), Robert “Bob” Sauer (Green Bay, WI) and Ted (Jessica) Sauer (Green Bay, WI).  Rob is also survived by his five grandchildren Nicholas Schomaker, Elizabeth Schomaker, Eva Sauer, Mina Sauer and Silas Sauer; as well as his sister Kay (Gary) Erickson (Fruitport, MI) and many other relatives and loved ones.    

Visitation will be held at Lyndahl Funeral Home Saturday June 19,2021 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm with a memorial service at 5:00pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Stadium View starting at 5:30pm. 

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established in Rob’s honor.
