Ronald Sternard Obituary

Ronald R. Sternard, age 85, formerly of Green Bay passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025, in Oshkosh.

Ron Sternard was born on September 15, 1939, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to the late Ralph R. and Hazel C. (Toonen) Sternard. He graduated from Premontre High School in 1957 and pursued his education at St. Norbert College and UW-Whitewater. He completed his Master’s Degree in Education Administration at UW-Superior. On December 29, 1962, he married Lee Ann Danz.

Ron commenced his professional career as an educator at Prairie Farm High School in Wisconsin. During his tenure at Prairie Farm, he held the position of Teaching Principal for a four-year period. During the summer breaks, Ron pursued his Master’s Degree at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Upon obtaining his Master’s degree, Ron assumed his first full-time principal position at Three Lakes High School. He dedicated nineteen years of his career to Three Lakes, Wisconsin, before relocating to Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, where he served as the principal at Cedar Grove/Belgium High School for eleven additional years. Ron retired on June 30, 1996.

Ron was a true outdoorsman at heart. He absolutely loved duck, partridge, and deer hunting whenever he could. He also enjoyed bass fishing on the many lakes in Wisconsin. For many years, Ron enjoyed downhill skiing. He and Lee even taught all three of their boys how to ski in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Ron started and ran the ski clubs and weightlifting clubs at both Three Lakes and Cedar Grove.

If you ask the people closest to Ron, they’ll tell you that he had a sweet tooth, loved action movies, popcorn, tennis and badminton, cherry bombs and firecrackers, storytelling, taking a refreshing dip in a cool lake, chatting about the weather, Lee’s cooking, hearing about the successes of his three boys and four grandsons, and most of all, his lovely wife Lee.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years Lee Ann Sternard, son Mitchell and (Janica) Sternard of Palm Springs, CA, son Michael and (Anissa) Sternard of Chandler, AZ, and son Steven and (Jamie) Sternard of Winneconne, WI.  He is also survived by grandsons Diego, Dominic, Mason and Chase Sternard.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Ralph & Hazel Sternard, his grandparents Christian and Olive Toonen, and his uncle Reverend Harvey Toonen O. Praem.
