Rose Jane Barnes, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 11, 2022, at Woodside Manor in Ashwaubenon.
Rose was born in Marinette, WI to the late Frank and Mary (Slawik) Kusnierz on December 27, 1928. She graduated from Marinette High School.
Rose worked for the State Department of Health and Social Services as an Office Manager and Supervisor. She was a Charter Member and a volunteer at Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Ashwaubenon for many years.
Rose married Ernest “Ernie” Barnes on October 13, 1951. They spent 50 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death on January 26, 2002.
Rose was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and she loved anything to do with Cardinals. She was well known for her cooking and baking of all kinds of goodies to share with family and friends. She also loved to watch daily for the deer that would come to her yard and turkeys that would visit her at her living room window.
Rose is survived by 3 generations of nieces and nephews, several godchildren, and many wonderful friends. Rose was preceded in death by her husband Ernie; her parents: Frank and Mary; mother and father-in-law: Stanley and Elvie Barnes; her brothers: Frank (Marge) Kusnierz and Gerald (Midge) Kusnierz; and sisters: Margaret (Royal) Nicklaus and Ann (Edward) Shaver.
A memorial service will be held for Rose on Saturday June 3, 2023 at 5:00 pm at The Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay with Deacon Mike Dabeck officiating. The family will greet relative and friends from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 5:00 pm. She will then be reunited with her husband at Fort Howard Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank Woodside Manor and Unity Hospice for their care over the last month. They would also like to thank Prevea Health Care and St Mary’s Hospital for their care over many years.
