Ruth Erickson

Ruth Alice Erickson, 87, of Green Bay passed away peacefully Friday, February 26, 2021 at Unity Hospice in DePere. Ruth was born on April 9, 1933 in Oneida, to the late Walter and Verona (Giese) Kottke.

On October 15, 1949 she married Clyde Hansen who died December 27, 1965. On July 31, 1977 she married Norton Erickson who died January 30,  2012. Ruth was a very creative person who enjoyed decorating her home, cooking and sewing.  She was a self-taught musician, painter and award-winning poet. She showed a great curiosity about many things and was always willing to try new undertakings.

Her greatest joy was her faith and family, which also included her precious pet dogs, Otis, Oscar, Oliver and Sammy. She was a friend to anyone she met and a gracious host to all who came to visit her.

Ruth is survived by three children and their spouses, Gary (Donna) Hansen, Gloria (J.P.) Nolan, Debra (Rick) Van Erem, and daughter-in- law, Cindy Hansen. 

She will also be sadly missed by her nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Kris) Reyner, Brandy (Mark) Nelsen, Jesse (Lora) Hansen, Chris (RyAnn) Van Erem, Aaron (Gina) Nolan, Jason (Christian) Nolan, Nathan Hansen, Nicole (Rob) Meade, and Kate Van Erem.  Ruth was also fortunate to have 17 great-grandchildren who she greatly cherished. Also surviving are her two brothers, Ralph (Ruby) Kottke and Jim (Nancy) Kottke.

She was preceded in death by her husband’s Clyde and Norton, and infant daughter, Kathryn and son Dale Hansen, other family and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday March 6, 2021 from 10:00AM-11:00AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Oneida with funeral Service to follow at 11:00AM, Pastor Larry Yaw officiating.

The family asks that masks be worn, and social distancing be observed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice, for their compassionate care of Ruth.
