Steven James Jacobs passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family and in his favorite place, home.
Steve was born on November 11th, 1968, to his loving parents Larry and Patricia Jacobs and raised in Green Bay alongside three siblings. As a child he excelled at many sports, with a particular talent for baseball and football. In addition to always remaining active in those and other sports, his fondest childhood memories included spending weekends at the family cabin, trout, and bass fishing, and exploring the north woods.
Steve graduated from Ashwaubenon High School in 1987, then went on to college at UW- Whitewater graduating with a degree in Business in 1991. He ran a successful insurance agency for over 20 years, priding himself on the service and relationships he built with his many long-standing clients.
He married the love of his life Kari (Dittloff) on July 30th, 1994. They were adventurous in the first couple years of marriage, living in Savannah, GA and Columbia, SC before moving back to Green Bay to start entirely new adventures raising their boys closer to family and friends.
Steve’s boys (Logan, Nathan, Luke, and Evan) meant everything to him. He would choose listening to their playful bantering at the kitchen table over a tropical vacation any day. Steve’s first and main interest was always his family and spending time with Kari and the boys.
Steve was an avid reader, grill master extraordinaire, fisherman, golfer and supporter of anything and everything that the boys were involved in. Steve loved being a baseball coach and dedicated countless hours to the Ashwaubenon baseball program, finding great joy in the inclusion and advancement of his players and celebrating their achievements big and small.
Steve’s quick wit, sense of humor, and general perspective and observations on life (think Seinfeld) were among his most memorable traits and produced stories that will be told for years to come.
Steve heroically battled cancer to remain a beloved part of his family and to continue adding to his legacy as a father, husband, brother, son, and friend to many. Most people never knew the challenges he took on. It was his extreme determination and grit that allowed him to keep life as normal as possible for his family. Everything he did was for them. The way he confronted and battled his illness was truly inspirational.
He is survived by and will live on in his beloved wife Kari, his sons: Logan, Nathan, Luke, and Evan; parents: Larry and Patricia Jacobs; siblings: Sheryl (Felicia), Greg (Anne) and Neil (Jennifer); nieces; in-laws: Richard and Jackie Dittloff; brothers-in-law: Mark and David; sister-in-law Deanna; other relatives and many friends.
The Lyndahl Funeral Home has assisted the family with arrangements to celebrate Steve’s life which will be held on Saturday, March 12th at Calvary Lutheran Church 1301 S. Ridge Road, Green Bay, Wisconsin, 54304. The visitation will be held at 10AM followed by a funeral service at noon.
