Susan "Holly" Ambrose Obituary

Susan Holly “Gezella” Ambrose 1954-2025

Holly passed away on March 2, 2025, after a 2-week battle with cancer. We were humbled to donate the gift of corneas & tissues to two others in Wisconsin.

Ashwaubenon- Born in 1954 to the late Robert and Jacqueline (Cropsey) Gezella. Holly graduated from Ashwaubenon High School in 1972.  Holly was part of the original Green Bay Packers Cheerleaders during the “Golden Girls” era. She continued her education with passion for caring for other by becoming a nurse. She started pediatric nursing 41 years ago with the original “West Side Clinic”, now known as Prevea, early in her career.  She absolutely loved her job working at Prevea Howard Pediatrics triage. She was a trusted voice of reassurance, support, and advice to so many parents for so many years. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched in pediatrics and with her colleagues.

Holly was the family nucleus with a revolving door, where everyone was always welcomed. You could often find a family stopping in for a home cooked meal, having “coffee talk”, to just nap on the couch, or raid her home-made cookies from the jar. She enjoyed special time in the house with her great niece and nephew; Ayaan and Layla Chahdi, doing puzzles, play their “S.A.L.T.” game, snuggling in her chair watching a show after their baths, spinning coins, and helping her in the kitchen. A special bond and connection was also formed with her great niece Meadow Schmidt spending time at the cabin making memories.

She loved to cook and bake for the family. Peggy and Holly were always in the kitchen together trying great new recipes. We would always know when Holly cooked, because no one went hungry, and we had leftovers for weeks! Hollys absolute favorite times were spent with family at “Freedom Lodge” for long weekends and holidays. Surrounded by friends’ family making memories playing cards, fishing, boating, and sitting around the campfire. She enjoyed playing canasta and going to bingo with close friends Teri and Julie. She naturally adopted all children as family, and everyone felt her love and support. She was the glue to our entire family, and family meant the EVERYTHING to her. You will never find a more giving and caring soul. She would do anything for family. Holly was our family nurse and often our chef on family cabin weekends.

Holly was blessed with four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Her children; Jesse (Susan) Olbrantz, their children Collin (Trudi) Olbrantz, Zachary and Paige Olbrantz.  Nicole (Doug) Ertman, their children Carissa, Cole, and Myles Ertman.  Sarah Kornowski and her children Griffin (fiancé Gracie Mihalski) and Kennedy Kornowski, and Adam (Jessica) Olbrantz. Two great grandchildren; Charlie and Luke Olbrantz. Her amazing siblings; Robert (Carol) Gezella, their children Chad (Carrie) Gezella and Tricia (Matt) Schmidt. Peggy (Barry) Roff, their children Alissa (Ahmed) Chahdi, Olivia (fiancé Grant Wegner), and Hope (Terry) Berglind. Nick Gezella and his child Molly (Mark) Baranczyk.

In addition to her parents, she was also proceeded in death by her late husband, Daniel R Ambrose in 2008 and many other close family and friends.

Per Holly's request, no public service will be provided.
