Thomas “Tom” Earl Campbell, 80, of Ashwaubenon peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital.
Tom was born on October 3, 1944, in Green Bay to the late Earl and Cecial (Patraw) Campbell. He graduated in 1962 from Preble High School. On January 16, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Carol Vincent at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Green Bay. Tom passed away weeks before he and Carol would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Tom was a member of Nativity of our Lord Parish in Ashwaubenon for over 53 years. He proudly worked at Fort Howard Corporation and retired after 35 years as a supervisor. Following his retirement, Tom worked part-time at St. Vincent Hospital where he frequently joked about having been a brain surgeon. He and Carol enjoyed winter vacations in Mexico and a memorable trip to Jamaica where they won a dance contest. He loved his little piece of heaven (cottage) on Lake Mary and could often be seen “going for a walk” as he called it, which was a ride on his four-wheeler to visit with friends. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, playing cards and campfires with friends and family at the cottage on Lake Mary.
Tom endured many challenging health conditions throughout his later years, which others may have succumbed to. He referred to himself as the 1% because if something was going to happen, it seemed to happen to him. The term was given to him by a doctor in Madison after becoming the 1% patient that had a complication from surgery. He was a fighter and fought hard until he was no longer able.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife: Carol Campbell ; three children: Scott Campbell, Shelley (Mark) Sperberg, and Sheila (Chad) Kubiak; his sweet Imperial Shih-Tzu, Maggie Doodles; four grandchildren: Thomas “TJ” (Danielle) Bacon, Ranessa (Michael) Harris, McKenna (Jason) Bailin, and Cassandra (Matt) Faust; great-grandchildren: Kadynn, Leighton, Quinn, Kylie, Cora, Robin and Lilly; brother: Michael (Carrie) Campbell; and two brothers-in-law: Darrell (Judy) Vincent, and Dale (Barb) Vincent. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents: Earl and Cecial Campbell; two sisters: Judy Puyleart and Kathy Kaminiski; an infant grandson: Dylan Sperberg; and parents-in-law: Wendell and Orpha Vincent.
A funeral service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 2270 S. Oneida St., with Rev. Matt Simonar officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, January 3, 2025 at the Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with a prayer service to begin at 7:15pm.
