Tony Borseth Obituary

Tony was born in La Crosse, WI, November 5, 1941 to Blanche Betsinger and Barney Borseth.

He and his four siblings grew up in the beautiful bluffs along the Mississippi River. Tony

graduated from Aquinas High School in 1959. Upon graduation he joined the Navy where he

served in the submarine service. He then worked in New York on WallStreet in the financial

market. Returning to his beloved La Crosse in 1962 he attended UW-LaCrosse where he

graduated with degrees in Business and Psychology. It was here that he met Maryanne Kuehn

who would become his wife and partner. They were married on August 7, 1965 and just

celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year.

Tony’s career began as Personnel Director at UW- Stevens Point, WI. Here they welcomed

daughter, Jennifer Anne and son, Jason Anthony into the family. With family in tow they moved

to Green Bay where he served as Personnel Director of H. C. Prange Co. In 1976 they

welcomed son, Jeremy to the family.

Tony joined the real estate profession in 1975 with the Skogg Company. He and his partners

then began the Hallmark Group Realtors in 1983 and were later joined by Montgomery and

Shorewest Realtors to form ERA Titletown Realtors. In 2007 he began his affiliation with

Resource One Realtors where he remained until his death. Real Estate was definitely Tony’s

calling and passion. He loved working with all his clients and several of them became lifelong

friends. He earned many awards and commendations in his 45 years in the business including

being named in “Who’s Who in the Midwest. Tony loved all the people he worked with at

Resource One.

Tony and Maryanne loved to travel and did so extensively for many years throughout Europe.

From camel rides in Morocco, wine tastings in Tuscany and gondolas in Venice, they have tons

of wonderful memories. Tony was quite the poet and was asked to write many obituaries,

poems about beloved pets, births and other occasions. He is also remembered for his reciting

of “Sam Magee” which he gave on a cruise ship and won first prize. He loved good wine and

fine food and just being with friends and family where his jokes were always plentiful. But most

of all he loved being with his wife, children, grandchildren and beloved dogs. Hanging around

the pool all summer and sharing all the memorable holidays. He will be greatly missed for his

“bigger than life” personality always loved and never forgotten.

Tony was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, sisters Kay (Jack) Hess, Karen (Larry)

Powers, nephews Adam Borseth and Jordan Hess. He is survived by his loving wife, Maryanne,

children Jennifer (Scott)Simmons, son Jason (Amy Nitschke), daughter-in-law Lynnette

Downing, and son Jeremy (Kristy Potts). Grandchildren Amanda (Andrew) Stoker, Emily

Simmons, Alex Borseth, Mason and Chase Borseth. Brothers Jerry (Marsha) from Madison WI

and Bruce Borseth from Tomah, WI. Many nieces and nephews and friends.

A private family service was held at Calvary Lutheran Church. The family is planning a

celebration of life to welcome all his many friends. (post-COVD)
