Verna “Joyce” Van De Kreeke, 83, Woodside Senior Communities, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
Joyce was born on September 26, 1938 in Oneida, WI to the late John and Verna (Van Kauwenberg) Peterson. Joyce went to school in the Seymour area, graduating with the class of 1956. In May in 1958, she married James Van De Kreeke, he preceded her in death in September of 1981. Joyce was a loan officer at a local credit union. Joyce was a founding member of Nativity Catholic Church. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law: Ken (Suzi) Van De Kreeke, Green Bay, Brian (Sara) Van De Kreeke, Green Bay, and Dan (Sue) Van De Kreeke, DePere; five grandchildren: Stephanie (Tyler) George, Green Bay, Erin (Justin) Hetzel, Fox Crossing, Allen Van De Kreeke (special friend Taylor Trondson), Boulder, CO, Claire (Connor) Drevs, Allouez, Bridget Van De Kreeke, Fort Meyers, FL; two great-grandchildren: Taylor and Trenton George, Green Bay; and two sisters and one brother: Blanche (John) Cumiskey-Walsh, San Diego, CA, Margaret (Jim) Vanden Eng, Pulaski and Randy (Deb) Peterson, Seymour. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband: James; and sister: Shirley.
A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held at 11am on Monday, January 17, 2022 at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, with Rev. Matt Simonar officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 9am until the time of service at 11am. Joyce will be laid to rest at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.

Joyce received three years of wonderful care by amazing nurses and CNA’s while at Woodside. More skilled and experienced caregivers are needed for senior centers in our community and nation. Ashwaubenon High School has a partnership with Woodside Senior Communities and NWTC to provide real experiences for high school students interested in healthcare.
