Vila Anita Mashl, 91, of Manitowoc, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at her residence.
Vila was born on September 18, 1933, in Cedar, WI to the late Lester and Nellie Heffner. She was a graduate of Ashland High School and furthered her education at NWTC, Green Bay, receiving her associate’s degree in Transportation. On October 16, 1954, she married Roland Mashl in Ashland, WI. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2015. Over the years, Vila worked as a dispatcher for Schreiber transportation.
She enjoyed going to the family cabin in Lakewood, WI and having friends and family join them. Her children and grandchildren were frequent visitors. Later she and Rolly spent many years living in Texas where they enjoyed the warm weather and meeting new friends. She loved playing cards with others at the community center. Most of all she loved her family.
Vila is survived by her sons: Robert Kallerud, Eric (Andria) Mashl, and Darren (Sue) Mashl; son-in-law: Lester Jaeger; daughter-in-law: Gay Mashl; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; brother: Lester (Lori) Heffner; and sisters: Delores (Tom) Bloomquist, Judy (Jon) Pahos, and Jennifer Heffner. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lester and Nellie Heffner; her husband: Roland Mashl; son: Kevin Mashl; two daughters: Deborah Jaeger, and Linda Jensen; brother: Ronald Heffner, daughter-in-law Cheryl Kallerud and son-in-law, Wally Jensen.
A memorial service to celebrate Vila’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Fort Howard Memorial Park with Ann Froelich officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Fort Howard Memorial Park from 12:00 pm until the time service at 1:00 pm.
