Wayne Lindsley Obituary

Wayne Philip Lindsley, 89, of Long Lake, WI and Apache Junction, AZ, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at his home in Arizona.

Wayne was born on October 23, 1936 in DePere, WI to Chester and Theodora (Vande Hei) Lindsley. He was a graduate of St. Norbert High School and furthered his education, receiving his bachelor’s degree from St. Norbert College and his master’s degree from the University of Michigan. Wayne proudly served his country from 1954-1958 in the United States Air Force in Watertown NY and northern Morocco. On September 2, 1961, he married Sandra Christel at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein and resided in Ashwaubenon 33 years. Wayne devoted his career to educating young people, teaching math at Lombardi Junior High and Green Bay Southwest High School.  During the summers he coached his children’s teams, worked at Nabisco and Fuller Brush and spent weeks at a time at the cabin in Dunbar, WI.  Upon his retirement in 1994, Wayne and Sandy, with the help from family and friends, built their home in Long Lake, WI where he became an EMT and founded the Lake Association of Long Lake.

Wayne is survived by his wife: Sandra Lindsley; children: Gregory (Maria) Lindsley, Mark (Laureen) Lindsley, Christal (Jenny Fischer) Lindsley, and Kurt ( Mindy Anderson) Lindsley; seven grandchildren: Samantha Lindsley, Brett Lindsley, Leaha (Jacob) Zimmerman, Maxwell Lindsley, Matthew Lindsley, Ruby Lindsley, and Gus Lindsley; one sister: Shirley Gevers, one brother: Michael (Barbara) Lindsley. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents: Chester “Chet” and Theodora “Sis” Lindsley; Sister:  Bonnie Lindsley; brother and sister-in-law: Tom and Sandra (Alsteen) Lindsley; and brother-in-law: Jim Gevers.

A funeral service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 11:00 am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 2270 S. Oneida Street Green Bay, with Rev. Matt Simonar celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave, and again on Friday, June 5, 2026 at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.  Wayne will be laid to rest at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
