Willard ‘Willy’ L. Roffers, 84, Green Bay, died late Tuesday evening, September 29, 2020 at Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay. Willy was born on March 23, 1936 in Green Bay, son of the late Lester and Henrietta (Kocken) Roffers.
He grew up in West De Pere and after high school, Willy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Willy served until 1958 and received an Honorable Discharge. On September 6, 1958 he married the love of his life, Jean Vandenack at Annunciation Catholic Church in Green Bay. The couple recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. Willy was employed as a machinist with Ft. Howard for over 36 years until his retirement. He loved deer hunting, gardening, bird watching and bowling. He was an avid chess player and taught his children and grandson how to play. Willy also loved spending time in his workshop. He could build or fix almost anything. He is his family’s “hero” and role model of what a loving husband, father and friend should be. Willy was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish from the date of its inception.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Roffers, Green Bay; his children, Kevin (Debbie) Roffers, Green Bay, Kathleen (Nick) Carriveau, Freedom, Colleen (special friend, Mike Fronsee) Matthews, De Pere, Cheryl Selissen, De Pere; seven grandchildren, David (Brianne) Wisneski, Noah (Amy) Carriveau, DJ Carriveau, Jamie Roffers, Lance (Allison) Matthews, Rob (Fiancée, Erin Goplin) Matthews and Dillon Selissen; six great-grandchildren, Iliana Carriveau, Sawyer Carriveau, Griffin Carriveau, Minka Wisneski, Oona Wisneski and Brexley Matthews; two sisters, Betty (Lee) Schmidt, Seymour, Linda (Gary) Halase, Freedom; four brothers, David (Claire) Roffers, Green Bay, Harley (Nancy) Roffers, Denmark, Gary (Carolyn) Roffers, De Pere, Joseph Roffers, De Pere; and a special cousin, Mike Donovan, De Pere. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Henrietta Roffers; an infant sister, Mary; three brothers, Jim (Ruth Ann) Roffers, Robert Roffers, Mike Roffers; one brother-in-law, Don (Joyce) Vandenack.
Visitation will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 2270 S. Oneida St. from 9:00 am on Saturday, October 3, 2020 until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Matt Simonar. Military Honors will be accorded outside of church following services and entombment will take place at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
