William "Bill" Stein Obituary

William G. Stein, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 22, 2023, with his family by his side, after a two-year courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 4, 1949, to George and Adele (Manders) Stein.
Bill grew up in Green Bay where he attended St. Joseph’s and graduated from West High School in 1967. After graduating, Bill joined the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam. Bill was a decorated soldier and fought hard for his country. He was wounded in Vietnam and received various medals of honor including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
After returning from war, Bill began a career with Red Owl Warehouse and eventually turned to the US Postal Service for a long tenured career as a mail carrier. Bill was very liked as a carrier, and during this time he met his wife Donna Simons-Perleberg, who he loved so dearly. Bill and Donna were married in November 1992, and settled in West Green Bay. During their marriage they spent countless hours together enjoying life. They enjoyed their yearly trips to Clearwater/Indian Shores, Florida for a few weeks every spring; after retirement they spent winter months there to be with many friends and family.
Bill thought the world of his stepdaughter Jessica (Simons) Pelletier, and his son-in-law Paul Pelletier. Jessica had a passion for traveling that rubbed off on Bill. Bill & Donna took trips to Utah, Mexico, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic. Their absolutely most memorable trip was a family vacation to Hawaii. Bill was very excited to have two grandchildren in his life, Jax and Austin, who he absolutely loved and adored and was so proud of. He spent countless hours playing football and baseball with them and teaching them things about life. He loved going to their baseball and hockey games. Bill was also an avid Packer, Brewer & Badger fan.
Bill recently spent summers playing golf at Twin Oaks with his buddies. He loved cars and enjoyed attending car shows. He loved working to restore his ’87 Grand National. One of his favorite places to visit during the latter part of his life was Torch Lake, Michigan to be with dear friends Debbie and Kim Ware.
Survivors include his loving wife: Donna; stepdaughter and son-in-law: Jessica & Paul Pelletier; adored grandsons: Jax and Austin; sisters: Bette Stein, Kay Montgomery, Mary (Lee) Vandenhuevel; sister & brother-in-law: Bonnie and Dave Olsen; brother-in-law: Wayne Perleberg and special friend Jackie Johnson; sister in law: Robin Perleberg; many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Per Bill’s wishes, no services will be held - he just asked that you all remember him when he was healthy, and all the good times had together.

Bill will be remembered as a devoted, loving husband, stepfather, father-in-law, and grandpa (Poppy), as well as a friend and decorated soldier. We love you so much and will miss you beyond words, but you will forever be in our hearts.
