Roy G. Gerrits

Roy G. Gerrits, age 88, of Green Bay, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.  He was born on September 14, 1929, to the late George and Regina (Vanasten) Gerrits.  Roy married Sylvia Westcott on November 24, 1951, at St. John the Baptist Church.  He owned and operated Roy Gerrits Construction for many years.  Roy then began Roy Gerrits trucking, where he oversaw twelve semis, before retiring in 1995.  He enjoyed playing cribbage, fishing, camping with Good Sam’s Club, going to the casino, and playing Bingo.  Roy loved to tell jokes and he had a great sense of humor.

Roy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sylvia; his children, Michael (Mary) Gerrits, Kathy (Bob) Grignon, Steven Gerrits, Linda VanDenack, Tom (Debbie) Gerrits, Rick (Sharon) Gerrits, Julie Gerrits, Lisa Smet, and Kelly Lafrombois (special friend, Dennis); grandchildren, Shawn, Chad, Jamey, Kristy, Shannon, Melissa, Brandon, Brittney, Nick, Jeff, Christopher, and Logan; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Cynthia, Cody, Michael, Cole, Connor, Kylie, and Jaxon; great great-grandson, Bentley; sister, Ann Wagner; sisters-in-law, Esther and Norma Gerrits; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brothers, Sylvester, Willard, and Alvin; sisters, Geneva (Earl) VerHeyDen, Margart (Frances) Kropp, and Martha Nicholson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Irving and Cecilia Westcott.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 Oneida St., from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Ingold officiating.  Burial will be in Ft. Howard Cemetery.
